Jewelry

My SIL is in a wedding in March and she asked me to make some jewelry for her. She picked out the beads and pearls and gave me an idea of how she invisioned it. We started talking about it in January and I just finished it tonight. It took me a lot longer to finish than I expected, about 15 hours hands on, but based on the sketches she drew me, it's (hopefully) exactly what she wanted. I had to work out of my comfort zone with this one...I've made quite a few simple earrings, necklaces and bracelets, but haven't worked with pearls or with thread (vs. wire) before. Posted by Picasa

Ooo...I like this. I like the way the piece at the bottom reminds me of branches. I hope your SIL is pleased.

I didn't know you worked with jewelry! I hope Karry comes by to see these. She works with beads, too.

You did a beautiful job. They look so professional. I bet your SIL will be delighted with them.

Love the tri-lobe clusters at the ends! You did it!!! SIL will be so happy!!!

What did you do to secure, those little endcaps that close over the knots or??? Oh, I'm gonna need to know how you strung the ends too...

branches! That's perfect. The wedding is in Yosemite. :)
I can't take credit for the design, SIL came up with it, I just had to execute.

I really haven't beaded in years. I have a habit of picking up non-paper crafts and doing it obsessively for 2 or 3 years then going back to my paper crafts. I'll make earrings for my MIL and I'm teaching a basic beading class next month, but aside from that, my bead box only sees light about once a year.

I secured them with those shell (?) clamps you recommended me to use! They were prefect, even for the earrings. Thanks for the tip!!

I bet those branches will look so pretty on the neck. Very, very beautiful.

Those are beautiful! Very delicate, feminine, and organic! You should break out the bead box more often!
